Kind of jarring the way that the story in 61-64 bled into this issue. Maybe the most obvious change is the artist. I don’t necessarily dislike Santolouco’s art, but I definitely don’t like the way he draws the Turtles themselves compared to the previous artist. But there is some good detail here. I like the way he draws April, and there’s lots of little touches like the PS4 and copy of Street Fighter V in the living room, or the posters in Mikey’s room.
Anyway, while the story in the last four issues has been super serious and resulted with the Turtles abandoning Splinter and going off to live on their own, this was kind of a weird issue with the Turtles throwing a Christmas party. Ultimately nothing much happens and it’s mostly a lot of sight gags and interactions between all the characters that they invited. It’s quaint enough, but feels totally skippable as far as story goes.
